Government Guaranteed Student Loans

Penn Security, in conjunction with the federal government and the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA), offers a number of loan programs to help you meet the cost of higher education.

Whether you are a high school graduate, an employee considering leaving the work force to further your education, a part-time student or a parent, you may be eligible for one of our educational loan plans. As a national lender we can approve loans for students no matter where they live or where they attend school or college.

Two of the loans offered by Penn Security are the subsidized Federal Stafford Loan, which is available to students who demonstrate financial need, and the unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loan. Penn Security Bank offers up-front savings on both of these loans and, to those that qualify, interest rate savings after making 48 consecutive payments. Repayment does not begin until six-months after graduation or after the student ceases to be enrolled on at least a half-time basis.

Penn Security also offers the Federal PLUS Loan to parents of dependent undergraduate students. The school determines the student's dependency status. As an eligible parent you may borrow the difference between the student's cost of education less any financial aid received. Repayment begins after the loan has been fully disbursed.

The Federal Consolidation loan is also available to borrowers who are about to enter repayment and wish to combine his or her outstanding educational loans into a single loan with a single monthly payment. Consolidation loans usually have a longer repayment period and a lower monthly payment than is available on the underlying loans.
